The coding workshop held this weekend with Ms. Nia was wonderful! She provided a great mix of content instruction, art, and hands-on coding play. The POD got a chance to learn about robots, what they are and how they work, before designing their own model bot to use with their Sphero Robots.
Ms. Nia taught them how them about the relationship between input and output in robot’s “sensing-thinking-acting cycles” and showed them how to use software to code for robot movement and speech. The girls (and a couple adults and a big brother) got to code sequences to get their Sphero Robots moving, speaking and even clapping. It was wonderful to see and hear them bring all their STEM knowledge and interests to that space. We definitely have some future scientists and engineers in The POD!
