This 8-week course provides girls with an opportunity to explore the lives and legacies of Shirley Chisholm, Barbara Jordan, Michelle Obama, and Kamala Harris. The overall goal of this semester is to promote positive self-image. The books selected will encourage celebration of one's unique voice, talents/superpowers, beauty, and will foster pride in being a part of a legacy of Black women who led/lead and leverage roles in the government as a vehicle for broader social change. The fall course is offered weekly from April - May 31st. Weekly class sessions will take place online and run for 45 minutes. Sessions will include an interactive read aloud, direct instruction, small group discussion and cooperative group activities. Online 2nd - 3rd graders: 3rd Wednesday of the month 5:30-6:45pm (Zoom)
